South Norfolk Village Clusters Housing Allocations Plan (Reg. 19 Pre-submission Draft)

Representation ID: 3142

Representation Summary:

In relation to the question of capacity in schools currently and potential for child movement. Norfolk is currently seeing a decline in its birth rate which is impacting the entry year into school and subsequent years, this will continue to take effect over the next 2-3 years and it is anticipated the higher numbers transitioning through Primary are moving to the latter part of their schooling which will ensure capacity is available in schools as time moves on.

Some sites still remain with a level of pressure and act as an overflow to some strategic areas where there are plans to develop a school site, which will release this pressure in the future.
The impact of movement between counties is often of net effect, often a similar level of children move in and out of the county which does not put any significant pressure on surrounding schools. We continue to work with our admission colleagues to ensure pupils have the appropriate places and will get a place of their choice.

Information based on the education landscape can be found in our Schools Local Growth and Investment Plan 2023. This gives detail of the areas of growth and decline across the county which helps to inform our capital and educational priorities. Schools Local Growth and Investment Plan 2023 (norfolk.gov.uk)
