Respondent: Mr jonathan taylor

Representation Summary:

This site will overwhelm the village with traffic. 25 houses = 250 movements a day. Access roads are single track. No developer can improve the roads effectively. Why such emphasis of access to village hall. Its not a problem now!!25 is far to many and will cause significant impact on all other residents.
Put simply village cannot cope with increased traffic. No shops in village etc.

Change suggested by respondent:

It should reflect the very poor road network being all single track roads with passing places and be truthful

Representation Summary:

The number of households proposed will increase the pressure on local services and road infrastructure. Also what is meant by ‘approximately’ 25 dwellings? Is 25 the maximum number? A concern is that once initial planning consent is given for a site then developers will try to increase the density to make a site more profitable. Nowhere in the VCHAP have I seen what measures will be taken to prevent such increases.

Change suggested by respondent:

Reduce the number of houses planned to reduce the impact on local services and infrastructure. Also include measures to prevent developers trying to increase the number of houses on sites once planning consent given for sites.

What does "approximately" mean? What is to stop the developer forcing many more plots into this site to bolster viability and his profits?

Change suggested by respondent:

Remove VCALP1 from the plan.

Representation Summary:

Berghapton is not a rural services village, does not have a shop within easy walking distance of the majority of the village, and has already had 27 new properties built since the last development plan.
Any children would have to be transported to Alpington school as there are no adaquete pathways or cycle ways.
Given the planned development in Alpington, the village school could well have insufficient space.
The narrow road access has no speed limit and is inadaquete for possibly 50 new car movements. The Highways officer has visited the village and said that there are no grounds to provide a limit.

Change suggested by respondent:

Fewer, if any, housing units.
