Representation Summary:

Despite ongoing attempts to introduce traffic calming measures, traffic still travels frequently too fast through the village. The proposed development is on the opposite side of the main road through the village from the play area / recreation ground. Increased numbers of residents, especially children will be crossing this road with no safe safe point to cross - especially accounting for the increased traffic that the additional houses will bring.

Whilst there is a footpath from the proposed development to the school, it is not possible to walk anywhere else in the village via a footpath.

Change suggested by respondent:

Less houses, leading to less increase in traffic volume.

A safer means of crossing the main road through the village. Pedestrian crossing?

More footpaths e.g. from Hockering Lane to the postbox, from the bridge to the pub.

Representation Summary:

6.8 Misleading. The only local services are the school, village hall and pub. The footpath only extends to the school. The village hall is across the road and there is no footpath to the pub. Just a narrow listed bridge which is on a bend and is very dangerous to cross on foot.
The site is also sited immediately after a bend in stocks hill with a blind dip heading North. Vehicle access to and from the site could constitute a safety hazard, given the number of vehicles likely with 35 dwellings

Change suggested by respondent:

Because of the geography of the site and its location. A study needs to be made of the suitability and safety and volume of vehicles entering and leaving the site. to join the main route through the village

Representation Summary:

The "pedestrian Connectivity" is limited to the centre of the village. There is no pedestrian access beyond this. It would be likely that any families moving into a new development, should one be permitted despite extensive objections, would not be able to find a place for any young children at Bawburgh School as it is over-subscribed. They will need to use cars to travel to schools, shops, sports facilities etc.

Stocks Hill, New Road and Hart's Lane are already used as a "rat run" for cars accessing Bowthorpe, Longwater retail, Longwater park and ride, Bawburgh Golf Course and Easton College.

Change suggested by respondent:

Due to the poor pedestrian access and the high volume of traffic already passing through the village at peek times, often at speeds exceeding the safe 20 mph limit in the centre of the village, the pan should be scrapped.

Representation Summary:

Although the road is wide enough at the site, there is no road leading out of the village that remains at this width. There is an obscured view to the right and left as you leave the site as the road curves in both directions and goes downhill to the right. Traffic regularly does not obey the speed limits - people have set off the SAM traffic signs at speeds of up to 75mph. Parking for the village hall can spill out onto Stocks Hill. Developers vehicles and supplies will need to access Bawburgh along country lanes.

Change suggested by respondent:

More traffic calming would be needed and country lanes would need to be widened.

Representation Summary:

Given the lack of transport services and rural location, the proposed site will inevitably lead to increased traffic through the village towards Longwater. No consideration has been given to the narrow and historic 18th century bridge, as well as the other narrow single track roads in/out of the village. This already causes significant issues at peak times which would be increased by the scale of the proposed site. Furthermore, Stocks Hill has already proved to be dangerous, by the recent fatality within 50m of the proposed site entrance.

Change suggested by respondent:

The road network around Bawburgh is not suitable to accommodate the proposed plan.
