Respondent: Wicklewood Parish Council

Legally compliant? No

Sound? No

Duty to co-operate? Yes

Representation Summary:

In the Reg 18 document you noted that the primary school is operating near or at capacity. This statement has been removed from the Reg 19 document although the situation at the school is believed to be the same.

Change suggested by respondent:

It needs to be clear what the capacity of the school is

Respondent: Mr Chris Baines

Representation Summary:

The School is already above capacity with local children not being able to secure places. This development will only make this situation worse.
Local employment is mentioned, where is this employment? There is mention of a mushroom farm; this has not existed for 10 years.

Change suggested by respondent:

Remove allocation

I disagree with this statement. There is a lack of facilities, no post office, shops or surgery. A school only services part of the community and not the childless or elderly. There has been extensive building of new homes in our nearby town of Wymondham. This town offers the missing facilities required by our village residents. The density of the proposed plan within our village would feed into Wymondham's intra-structure which is already being challenged and also further increase to its traffic volume. Many residents will need to commute on a daily basis for essential activities.

Change suggested by respondent:

A reduced scale of development would not put as much stress on the roads for commuting and travelling to access facilities not provided in the village.

These facilities exist but I understand the primary school is near capacity already and the traffic associated with it is dangerous with irresponsible parking outside the school car park. We witness it every day!! Can the pub survive? It's rarely busy. I'm not aware of buses in the evenings. It's primarily a commuter service and routes are so long are unlikely to deter car use. The church is closed (unsafe), nearest shop/post-office/doctor/dentist c4 miles. Heritage and amenity value of rural views to all villagers and visitors including those passing through, needs protecting, not damaging.

Change suggested by respondent:

There's scope for more infill housing. Stick to that as Wicklewood's contribution to the overall plan, as it's within the existing planning boundary (that I understand the proposals aren't). Proposals suggest modest numbers but there's already a published desire for significant extension to whatever is allowed - and that will destroy the ambience and character of Wicklewood as a traditional Norfolk village. My comments at 45.1 are all relevant, and having attended a recent Parish Council meeting I agree with their views.
