In the winter of 2020, Earsham experienced its worst flooding in 50 years. Several dwellings along the main road near to the proposed site were completely flooded. According to the SEPA flood map of the area, the site is part of a water drain into the river Waveney. The addition of hard surfaces from a housing development will further limit the efficacy of water drainage into the river. There are more suitable sites in the village that do not carry the same flood risk.
The site should not be developed at all on the basis of flood risk.
