Hackford Rd already threatened by increasingly dangerous/busy traffic (heavier and driving faster) including heavy lorries, supermarket/other deliveries. Double bends near the school in both directions are unsighted. It's in a DANGEROUS location, and although that cannot change, it can be mitigated by avoiding planning for the proposed number of new-builds (thin end-of-the-wedge). School lacks capacity and “temporary” accommodation would be unsightly. Parking remains inadequate in spite of changing its playing field into a car park some time ago, and irresponsible parking outside the car park is worsening. Plans exceed existing structure plan boundaries. Accidents waiting to happen!
There's scope for more infill housing. Stick to that as Wicklewood's contribution to the overall plan, as it's within the existing planning boundary (that I understand the proposals aren't). Don't put more pressure on Wicklewood Primary, with or without a frontage footway, because Hackford Road is so busy already and becoming more dangerous by the day with heavy lorries travelling too fast, and traffic generally . There's already a published desire for significant extension to whatever new-build housing is allowed in the proposed plan that's being discussed - and that will destroy the ambience and character of Wicklewood as a traditional Norfolk village. Don't exacerbate the damage by encouraging more traffic onto Hackford Road as organic growth is already worrying. Remove the highways department's need for a frontage footway by avoiding building on the proposed sites. My comments elsewhere in this submission are all relevant, and having attended a recent Parish Council meeting I agree with their views.
