Representation Summary:

9.11 of your associated SAR notes GIL1 has particular landscape sensitivities:
"GIL1 and GEL1 are nearby allocations (within the same village cluster) that are both sensitive on account of close association with the Broads Authority Area, and also for other reasons including the presence of nearby conservation areas."
The SAR also states "Gillingham is notable as a village associated with Grade 2 quality land" which should be retained.
Natural England raise concerns in response to the GIL1 2022/1993 planning application with 'particular regard to potential significant effects on significant sites'.
Photographs attached show the open rural nature of the site.

Change suggested by respondent:

This site should be removed as preferred from the Plan given its impact on the landscape and local sensitive sites such as the Broads.
Construction of it will change the character of the village and its setting; the scale and location of it is not well related to the form and character or the existing village (as illustrated in the photographs) all of which are noted as a headline Objective of the Cluster Plan, noted on Page 3 of the SAR.
There are no appropriate landscaping measures which can be delivered as part of new development that will possibly mitigate the change to the local landscape, given its open nature. Any attempts to screen the development will be ineffective given the scale of works, which is illustrated in the photos by the visibility of the recent Daisy Way construction even though some attempts have been made to include planting.
