QUESTION 135: Do you agree
Representation ID: 1019
Received: 31/07/2021
Respondent: Tharston and Hapton Parish Council
Tharston and Hapton parish Council is two villages making up one parish, near Long Stratton, with Hapton suffering from no amenities except a school. They have no bus service and are only served by a garage, mobile library, and mobile food truck. Tharston is closer to Long Stratton but also suffers with little in the way of infrastructure except the new housing estate of Tharston Meadows but in general most residents need transport to access the local shops, Doctors, Library and bus routes.

QUESTION 136: Do you support
Representation ID: 1020
Received: 31/07/2021
Respondent: Tharston and Hapton Parish Council
The Parish Council opposes any development on this site. It has dreadfully limited access ,on a busy road with a dangerous blind corner.
Footpath from site to school does not exist - only from corner of No. 3, The Street.
Document mentions "substantial tree and hedge planting" in parish, yet proposes removing hedge planted along the road, which is well established.
Lack of village services means anyone living in new affordable housing will need a car to access services - therefore not affordable living.
Water pressure at this end of the Street is too low to support additional properties.
Facilities further afield (i.e. Secondary School and Doctor’s Surgery in Long Stratton) are already at or near capacity.

QUESTION 137: Do you think
Representation ID: 1021
Received: 31/07/2021
Respondent: Tharston and Hapton Parish Council
SN0255. The Laurels, Land north of The Street
SN1051. Land at The Street, Tharston
None of these sites is suitable for development and again the Parish Council would oppose any such development in the village of Tharston due to the lack of infrastructure and amenities for our parishioners to enjoy.
