Travel through Gillingham is already an issue as, due to the parking, The Street is virtually a single carriageway with a blind bend and there is so much traffic trying to negotiate it any additional traffic just adds to the problem. Whenever there is an issue on the surrounding main roads traffic diverts through the village and gridlock often ensues. More housing in Gillingham or Geldeston - and therefore more vehicles - will only exacerbate this problem.
