Representation Summary:

The working assumption is that the village school can accommodate children from these additional houses. Has anyone checked with the School? The School is working at capacity presently and has no plans to extend the classbase, which would be necessary without restricting access to children outside the Cluster catchment area. Has the School been engaged in a strategic plan to cope with this proposed change?

Change suggested by respondent:

To cope with growth, the School will need to extend. Who would fund this? The CIL proceeds from development would not pay for it, so it would be a major issue in the making.

The village school is over capacity. Playgroup is struggling to survive. Not one member of the football club, 3 teams lives in the village so all use cars. Car usage will increase so not eco-friendly. I wish planners would get the facts right not assumptions.

Change suggested by respondent:

Limited facilities as above. No room at school for any village children and it cant expand

Representation Summary:

The village school is over subscribed. It's enrollment policy gives priority to those living in Alpington, Yelverton and Bergh Apton. It is reasonable to expect that 50 additional properties across these villages will increase demand for the school. This is likely to mean that any brothers or sisters wishing to join their siblings at the school who live in neighbouring villages will not be able to enrol.

Change suggested by respondent:

Recognise that the local school is unable to accommodate any additional headcount without impacting the future needs of families with children already the school not in the catchment area.

Representation Summary:

With regards to Village facilities, the primary school is currently full to capacity. If the Plan is followed for this Village cluster then there will be an additional 50 households. There is not capacity in the primary school for a significant increase in the number of children requiring a place at the school.
There is no bus service to Poringland for services such as doctors and pharmacies, shopping etc, thus requiring private car journeys to access such facilities.
The number of additional houses in the Plan is thus not sustainable for this location.

Change suggested by respondent:

Reduce the planned number of new homes.

Representation Summary:

The primary school is already at capacity so what is the plan to accommodate any additional primary-school-age children moving to the Cluster?
The Post Office has no footpath and therefore is only accessible by pedestrians walking along a busy, single file in places, road.
The bus service does not serve Poringland where the nearest doctors, pharmacy and convenience stores are located.

Change suggested by respondent:

Remove ALP1 from the VCHAP

Representation Summary:

The village school is at capacity and there is no room for extra pupils. The scale of the proposed development with 50 extra houses in Alpington and Bergh Apton is too large. The roads are also inadequate to deal with the additional vehicle movements created by additional houses.

Change suggested by respondent:

Remove ALP1 from the VCHAP.
