We do not feel 15 homes is the correct number its too many
There are worries on the new housing development not keeping the natural environment

We would need the road made safer
The flooding issue needs addressing before any building takes place
We would need more infrastructure such as doctors, dentists. shops and bus service

Representation Summary:

I do think homes is too many
It an area that lies low and floods regularly
The worries on the extra traffic
The worries on lack of infrastructure
I rent the field next to the proposed development for sheep and the development would affect them

Change suggested by respondent:

I wish it was the field opposite as that is better suited and as its higher land and is the lesser of 2 evils
I actually do not want the development as it takes away the view across the area.
I would like to see a better class of road
Better signage on the road
Traffic calming measures needed

Representation Summary:

Flooding - since Wood Farm development, New Rd has suffered bad flooding to road and houses. If further development built on New Rd, it would prevent surface water running into fields - result being more water on the road and flooding houses again.
Road - New Rd is already used as through road from Wymondham to Tacolneston, with regular speeding. Road is narrow. Likely that excess cars from any new development would be parked on New Rd, either blocking road or blocking pedestrian access. Potential for accidents.
Number of houses - 15 houses seems excessive in the space suggested.
Infill - Village has already supported additional houses. No amenities and the local school is already full.
Climate change - site has number of old trees and hedges. Development should not impact these features or the village balance of nature.
Need for housing, in general, is understood. However, Ashwellthorpe has already received its share of recent development. Views and concerns of residents need to be listened to - the area proposed is not the right place for this type of development.

Representation Summary:

There is a major issues with the flooding as the field is low land and floods regularly due to the water table is too high
The current pumping station is not suitable for exiting homes and extra development would exceed capacity
Sewage problems and the lack non return valves.
Traffic issues with speeding and road safety and the lack of paths
The lack of notification and short time to consult with a lack of transparency for all parishioners

Change suggested by respondent:

The number of houses is too much and should be greatly reduced
The infrastructure needs looking at as we have no shop, doctors or the lack of any bus services.
The pumping station needs upgrading to take the extra development and flow from sewage.
The road needs upgrading as its very dangerous due to speeding issues and this really needs looking at.

Representation Summary:

- Flooding risk in severe weather. Drains overflow into road, causing a river of water which flows into gardens.
- Small rural road inadequate for increase at certain times of the day. Cars speed along this road and the situation will be made worse by extra 15 houses.
- Road not gritted in icy weather. More traffic creating hazard in winter months.
- A small housing development with pavement is not in keeping with the rural character of New Road. The present character of the road is mainly cottages with grass verges.
- A new development would b damaging to the environment. This area is rich in bird life and small mammals, such as hedgehogs. Tawny owls frequent the proposed site.

Change suggested by respondent:

The pumping station needs upgrading
The trees and habitat needs keeping
The traffic issues need dealing with along with speeding issues
It does not meet with the local look and character of the road
The dwelling should not be 15 its too many
the environment will be harmed and needs looking at urgently
